## Description *Open Decision-Making System for Enhancing Europe's Preparedness and Response Capacities to ExTreme Wildfires (ODET)* is the successor of [[EWED]] and aims to forecast the potential of a wildfire to develop extreme fire behaviour. ODET is funded by the European Union under the Union Civil Protection Mechanism ([UCPM-2025-KAPP](https://civil-protection-knowledge-network.europa.eu/projects/odet)) and is coordinated by the [Pau Costa Foundation](https://www.paucostafoundation.org). Together with the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Netherlands Institute of Public Safety (NIPV), and Società Cooperativa Agricolo Forestale Italia, we bring coupled fire-atmosphere modelling into the Wildfire Data Portal, with easy-to-use tools designed by emergency responders for emergency responders. The project runs from March 2026 to February 2028. ## Output - In [[Publications#^Roelofs2026|The dynamics and atmospheric impact of fire-induced circulations in idealised large-eddy simulations inspired by the Santa Coloma de Queralt fire]] we use [[MicroHH]] simulations of a stationary fire to show that the existence of a fire-induced circulation is governed by the ambient wind speed component aligned with the circulation. The circulation, with updrafts above the fire, downdrafts 2 km ahead, and reversed surface winds in between, deepens and then thins the boundary layer ahead of the fire by up to 2 km. ^output-Roelofs2026
